Coz's injury

Hello Friends,

Some of you may not have heard about Coz's accident and for others this is an update. On Tuesday Coz and a friend, Maher, went to ride their dirt bikes for the first time this season. Coz was going up a steep, rocky hill and his wheel caught a rock... and now he is in Hershey Medical Center. He was taken to a hospital near the track and then flown to Hershey because they could not handle his injury. He had surgery that night. There are two problems, one is that he fractured the bones close to his knee joint and also has compartment syndrome and had a fasciotomy for you medical people. In other words, pressure built up in his leg (swollen) so they cut him on either side of his leg and put suction cups on the open wounds to remove the blood and liquids in his leg. When the swelling goes down they will finish the surgery on his knee joint, do a skin graft to close the wound and whatever else we don't yet know about. He will be in hospital for about a week and a half. He is in A LOT of pain and we have a long road ahead of us. He will not be able to use his leg for at least 10 - 12 week after leaving the hospital. Please pray that he doesn't develop any infection and that he is able to endure the pain and process of everything. He is in room 3239 at Hershey Medical Center. We have friends 5 min from the hospital so that is another blessing. I will be in Hershey for the weekend and back in Philly next week for the girls awards day and kinder. graduation. Their last day is the 8th. I can be reached at the hospital 717-531-6344 or cell 215-651-7834 when not at home. We are again reminded of how blessed we are to be surrounded by so many people who care for us.

Thanks for your prayers and concern,

Joyce
