update on Coz

I have come home again for two days as the girls finish school. They get out on Thursday and public school on the 20th. I am so glad they finish early because it makes life a little less hectic. Coz had surgery on Tuesday morning and it went well. They were able to stitch and staple the inner incision on his calf and change the dressing on the other side. If the swelling goes down enough by Friday (9th)he will have another surgery. They will do a skin graft to close the other incision and put plates and screws in the knee joint area to fix the bone fractures. They told Coz that he will have his worst pain after the surgery and into the next day. Then it should begin to decrease. He will not be able to put pressure on the leg for 12 weeks and will have at least 6 months of rehab. He will be given a range of motion machine for his bed so he will be able to keep his knee active. It is crucial to begin this right away so that he will have proper use of that leg. Long term concerns that the surgeon told us was stiffness and arthritis. Coz's spirits have been good, morphine maybe? I told Coz it was because he has hundreds of people praying for him! We are once again blessed by the love, concern and encouragement from our friends and family! Thank you so much!
